Prusa XL can make large-size prints due to its modular bed design. This innovation does not use a single large heat bed which can be prone to warping. Instead, This feature helps prevent warping. The Prusa XL model uses a series of smaller segments that can be individually controlled. Only the area of the heat bed needed for the print is activated, making it possible to make small-size and large-size prints.

Those first getting into the fascinating world of 3D printing will find a wide selection of printers to choose from to satisfy their printing needs. Standard size printers abound for the standard size projects you may have, but what about large size projects? You can’t go wrong with the Original Prusa XL. The Prusa XL 3D printer has a much larger printing platform to accommodate the creation of large-size prints – just what you need.

The Original Prusa XL

Here are some features of the Prusa XL:

  • It is a large-scale Core XY 3D printer.
  • The build volume is 36 x 36 x 36 cm (14.17 x 14.17 x 14.7 in.)
  • It has an optional tool changer, with up to five separate tool heads
  • It has an automatic first layer calibration
  • It is equipped with Prusa’s new “Nextruder” feature.
  • It comes with an innovative modular bed design.
  • It has a zero-backlash cycloidal gearbox with a 20:1 ratio.
  • It also is equipped with double-sided spring steel sheets. This feature aids in the removal of the finished print.
  • The Original Prusa XL 3D printer can print up to eight times larger volumes than other Prusa printer models.

The Modular Bed Design

The Prusa XL can make large-size prints due to its modular bed design. This also helps the Prusa XL to be more energy efficient since it only uses the area of the heat bed needed for the particular print. Another great feature is that the set calibrations do not need to be recalibrated from print to print. The calibrations you made from one print are available to use for the next print.

The Prusa XL’s redesigned extruder assembly allows for an automatic and accurate first layer. This is due to the internal load cell sensor within the heat sink. With this system, you can adjust the temperature according to the individual specs of the material you are using.

The Prusa XL also uses effective double-sided spring steel sheets. These double-sided sheets allow for easy maintenance and simple print removal.

The Nextruder Feature

The Prusa Nextruder feature is a redesigned and upgraded extruder. Some of its innovative features include hot-swappable nozzles, a load cell-based system, and an automatic first layer calibration. These features of the Prusa Nextruder allow for the creation of larger prints than with conventional 3D printers. The Nextruder has built-in electronics, with a dedicated CPU and a stepper driver in the print head. Other features connected to the board inside the printer head include fans, thermistors, a heater block, and an extruder motor.

The Multiple Tool Head Feature

Arguably, the best feature of all with the Original Prusa XL is its ability to be expanded from one to multiple printing heads. The Prusa XL can be expanded to up to five separate printer heads. This is made possible due to the accurate tool changer. The tool changer mechanism has an automatic calibration capability, using a load cell sensor. Additionally, Prusa’s kinematic coupler mechanism makes possible multiple tool changes with ease. Think of the possibilities with this five-tool head feature: you can use soluble support material when making detailed prints, you can print up to five different colors at once, or you can print with up to five different materials.

The Large Print 3D Printer

Do your 3D printing projects demand a printer that can produce large-size prints? Do your 3D printing projects require more than one printing material and color? Look no further than the Original Prusa XL 3D printer. With the Prusa XL 3D printer, you will enjoy the numerous upgrades and innovations built into this superior printer. These features include its modular bed design, the Nextruder printing base, and the multiple printing head assembly. The many innovations built into the Original Prusa XL 3D printer make possible the printing of larger and more detailed prints than you’ve ever been able to create before.
